Students in the Master of Financial Economics program participated in a day-long investment seminar at OPERS in Columbus on April 20.
Brian Wright, an OPERS portfolio manager, as well as other OPERS portfolio managers and financial analysts made presentations on such topics as (1) Private Equity and Real Estate Investment, (2) High yield bonds, (3) active equity investment, (4) Risk Management, and (5) Hedge Fund and Risk Parity, says Dr. Khosrow Doroodian, Professor of Economics.
Some members of the Ohio University equity club and the fixed-income club of the College of Business also attended.
“With defined benefit and health care investment assets of $99.6 billion as of Dec. 31, 2017, OPERS is the largest state pension fund in Ohio, the 12th-largest public retirement system and 15th-largest retirement system in the U.S.” according to the OPERS website. “One out of every 12 Ohioans relies on OPERS for retirement, disability and survivor benefits. In more than 80 years, OPERS has always made its benefit payments.”
