Dr. Beth Quitslund, Associate Professor of English, was named interim associate dean of the Ohio University Graduate College, effective May 14.

The Graduate College provides support for more than 5,000 students studying in 140 degree programs and specializations, at both the master’s and doctoral level. The college manages admissions, assistantships, records, thesis and dissertation services and professional development programs, as well as graduation for these students. The associate dean and dean of the college also work with academic areas across the institution to help develop and seek state approval for new graduate degree programs.

Quitslund will serve in the interim role while David Koonce takes on the role of interim vice president for research and creative activity and dean of the Graduate College through June 30, 2019. Koonce, an associate professor of industrial and systems engineering, has served as associate dean since July 2013.

“Dr. Quitslund brings a wealth of experience at Ohio University and with the Ohio Department of Higher Education. As academic units bring forward innovative new programs, her guidance will be key to their success,” Koonce said.

Quitslund has been a member of the Ohio University College of Arts & Sciences faculty since 2001. She has published scholarship on the aspects of the English Renaissance and Reformation, including Spenser, Milton, English psalm translations, Bibles and their interpreters, and the history of printing. She is a past chair and a current member of the Faculty Senate and also is a 2017-18 Mid-American Conference Academic Leadership Development Program fellow.
