Dr. Christopher France, Distinguished Professor of Psychology, was invited to present at the Institute of Blood Transfusion at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in Chengdu, China.
His April 18 lecture was titled “Enhancing blood donor recruitment and retention.”
Abstract: The presentation focused on more than 20 years of research that France and his colleagues have conducted on strategies to promote volunteer blood donor recruitment and retention around the world. Specific topics included coping strategies to enhance the donation experience for novice donors, development of pre-donation education materials to better inform and prepare prospective donors, and new research on methods to help recent donors explore their own motivations for giving with the goal of fostering a sense of autonomy among those who wish to remain in the donor pool.
