Perry County Court Judge Dean Wilson ’76 was one of the five Ohio attorneys to receive awards for distinguished service to the legal profession at the Ohio State Bar Association’s annual Council of Delegates on April 27, reports the Logan Daily News.
Wilson received “the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation’s (OLAF) Presidential Award for Pro Bono Service, which was established by OLAF to recognize firms, organizations or individuals that have made outstanding efforts to improve access to justice through pro bono service,” according to the story.
Wilson earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University.
“Judge Wilson has served in leadership roles with the Perry County Bar Association, as a mentor for the Ohio Judicial College, and as a member of the Community Correction Board as appointed by the Supreme Court of Ohio. He was instrumental in the formation of the Perry County New Direction Drug Court, a specialized drug court docket that provides access to a range of alcohol and drug treatment counseling. Judge Wilson is a currently serving a three-year term on the Ohio State Bar Association’s Board of Governors. He is a graduate of Ohio University and Capital University Law School,” reports the Daily News.
