Ohio University alum Christopher E. Veidt ’65 was honored by the Ohio State Bar Association on Feb. 28 for 50 years of service to the profession and one attorney for 65 years of service, according to a news release.
Veidt earned his bachelor’s degree from the College of Arts & Sciences at OHIO.
Veidt graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1967, where he was on the Law Journal and was a member of the Order of the Coif. He served as the Hocking County Prosecuting Attorney from 1970 to 1988, earning the Ohio Prosecuting Attorney of the Year Award in 1985. From 1988 until 2003 he served as Fairfield County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and Supervising Attorney for Fairfield County Child Support Enforcement Agency and has run a solo general practice since 2003. He has served on the Executive Committee of the OSBA, as President of the Hocking County Bar Association, Trustee and Chairman of the Tri-County Board of Mental Health, and as Executive Committee Member and Officer for United Way and Red Cross. He has been married to Karen K. Veidt for 54 years and is the proud father of three adult sons.
All honorees were recognized as part of the OSBA’s District 17 annual meeting in Columbus at the Sheraton Columbus at Capital Square. District 17 includes 160 attorneys who practice in Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Morgan, Noble and Washington Counties.
