Ohio University alum Joseph Calderone ’98M is a senior forecaster with the U.S. National Weather Service in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
He earned an M.S. in Geography from the College of Arts & Sciences and was the Associate Director of Scalia Lab for Atmospheric Analysis from 1997-98.

Calderone is a senior forecaster at the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, MN (Twin Cities) and has been there since 2011.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Sciences from SUNY Albany Cum Laude in 1996 with minors in Math and Geography. After getting his master’s at OHIO, he was a staff meteorologist for Weather Or Not Inc. in Shawnee, KS, from 1998-99 and then was a staff meteorologist for Surface Systems Inc. in Maryland Heights, MO, from 1999-2002.
His National Weather Service career began in 2002 at Charleston, SC, as an intern. He was then promoted to general forecaster in 2003 in Charleston and held that position until he moved to Minnesota as a senior forecaster in the Twin Cities.
