Guenther is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Creighton. He earned an M.S. in 2006 and a Ph.D. in 2009 in Experimental Psychology from the Ohio University College of Arts & Sciences.

Creighton’s College of Arts and Sciences Dean Bridget Keegan announced that two of the college’s awards were going to Guenther at a Feb. 8 celebration, a teaching award and an advising award:

  • Tenure Track Teaching: Corey Guenther, Ph.D. Department of Psychology
  • Major Advising (selected by the Student Senate): Corey Guenther, Ph.D., Department of Psychology

“Congratulations to Corey Guenther, a graduate of our experimental doctoral program, who was selected to receive both the highest teaching award and the highest advising award given by College of Arts and Sciences at Creighton University, where he is an Associate Professor! Each year, just one faculty member is selected to receive each award. To receive both in the same year is a terrific accomplishment. Mark Alicke was Corey’s adviser,” said Dr. Bruce Carlson, Chair of Psychology at Ohio University.

Guenther teaches courses in Psychology of Personality; Research Methods and Statistics; Motivation and Emotion, Social Psychology and Introductory Psychology.

His primary research examines the interplay between motivational, cognitive, and socio-cultural factors during identity formation and self-concept maintenance. A second area of interest examines how individuals’ motivations and naïve theories about the social world influence their judgments, predictions, and performance in competitive domains,” according to his website.
