Ohio University alum Eric W. Spalsbury ’83 is the Director of Risk Management for Stanley Steemer International Inc.; a large U.S.-based residential and commercial cleaning company headquartered in Dublin, OH.
He earned a B.S. in Plant Biology from the College of Arts & Sciences.
Spalsbury has over 30 years of experience managing risk at various levels and differing applications.
He has been with Stanley Steemer for over 10 years, where he oversees all aspects of risk control including: insurance and risk transfer; loss control and safety, fleet maintenance and claims and litigation management. He leads a small team of in-house professionals who utilize a range of external partners to pursue proactive and reactive continuous improvement.
Prior to Stanley Steemer, Spalsbury spent nine years working in global logistics with DHL and Exel Logistics; nine years in the chemical manufacturing and distribution industry with Ashland Chemical; and six years in the nuclear waste management industry with Battelle Memorial Institute.
Spalsbury has been a member of the board of directors for the Central Ohio Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society serving as treasurer, vice president and current president. In addition, he is an active fellow in the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance and is on the board of directors for the California Workers Compensation and Risk Conference.
He has consulted to Fortune 500 companies in a host of risk management capacities independently for two decades. He has authored and acted as a consulting editor in various publications.
