College of Arts & Sciences students are invited to participate in “Career Paths with Nestle” on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Clippinger 194.

Nestle Quality Assurance Center logoNestle Quality Assurance, based in Dublin, OH, is coming to campus and will be meeting with students in several classrooms, including Biological Sciences and Chemistry & Biochemistry. During the visit, Nestle also will meet with College of Arts & Sciences faculty and the Career, Leadership and Development Center about internships and jobs.

“Nestlé has elevated its commitment to quality and safety with a $31 million investment in the Nestlé Quality Assurance Center (NQAC) in Dublin, Ohio, which was designed to raise the bar for the verification of food safety and quality standards and provide support for the implementation and maintenance of food safety programs. As a global leader in nutrition, health and wellness, Nestlé has invested in advanced food safety systems and the development of a world-class network of quality and safety experts and laboratories. NQAC Dublin is now the largest and most sophisticated testing facility in the Nestlé network and possibly the world,” according to a 2016 Nestle announcement.

Nestle representatives who will be attending are Adam Highberger-HR, Brittany Pace-Microbiology Manager, and Nicole Berg-Chemistry Manager.

Nicole Berg

Nicole Berg earned a B.S. in Forensic Science and Biology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Defiance College.  She started working with Nestle right out of college in 2006 as Chemist in the Authenticity Department, then moved to the Vitamins Department in 2009. She became a lead chemist in the Authenticity Department working on operational improvements and method validation-verification. She also spent time as SAP super user and an auditor for factory laboratories during her career at Nestle. She moved to her current role as Chemistry Operations Manager in 2014.

Adam Highberger

Adam Highberger

Adam Highberger graduated in 2013 with B.S in Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resources from The Ohio State University. He started working with Nestle in August 2013 as a part of the Human Resources Development Program. He spent six months at the corporate office in Glendale, CA, doing HR project work and training to become an HR Generalist. He moved to a factory in Danville, VA, in February 2014, serving as an HR Generalist to more than 600 factory staff. In February 2015 took a permanent role at NQAC Dublin as an HR Generalist responsible for 260 scientists and technicians. He is currently responsible for HR support for the Chemistry Department as well as overseeing the NQAC internship programs.

Brittany Pace earned a B.A in Microbiology from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2009. She began career with Nestle in May 2010 as a Microbiology Technician. She became a Microbiologist in 2011, focusing on indicator and spoilage organisms, and was promoted to Lead Microbiologist in this area in 2012. In 2013 she assumed Supervisor role of Microbiology Sample Processing. She moved to current role as Microbiology Operations Manager in 2014. She completed an M.S. in Bio Technology in December 2015 from Johns Hopkins University while working full-time. She also spent time during the last four years supporting Nestle factories though laboratory assessment and technical support as well as focusing on Lean Laboratory initiatives at NQAC-Dublin.
