Spring semester advising is officially underway. It is a good time to meet with your adviser, reflect on the current semester, evaluate your strengths and weakness, and plan for the next semester with all of it in mind.
Follow these tips and knock your advisor’s socks off:
- Be proactive and contact your adviser to set up an appointment. Remember that during this time, advisers’ schedules get busy and full very quickly.
- Look at your DARS before the advising meeting and mark areas that you would like to work on next semester.
- Make a list of questions that would be helpful to have answered.
- Take a look at spring semester courses on the Course Offerings Page.
- Come up with a plan for the summer. Do you plan on taking courses, working, volunteering or interning? All of these are valuable experiences.
- Prepare or ask for help with your longer-term plan. Check out the four year plans.
If you still need help after meeting with your primary adviser, feel free to stop into Wilson Hall (on the College Green) during walk-in hours every Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m., and Thursdays from 1-4 p.m.
