Dr. Beth Quitslund, Associate Professor of English, is one of three Ohio University professors selected for the inaugural Mid-American Conference Academic Leadership Development Program.
The MAC Academic Leadership Development Program (ALDP) is a professional development program that aims to identify a select group of faculty and administrators in an effort to develop, prepare, and enhance their ability to be effective academic leaders. ALDP will feature opportunities for faculty and leadership to work together and is highlighted by two workshops, according to a news release.
This year’s workshops are Nov. 6-8, at Kent State University in Kent, OH, and Feb. 19-21, 2018 at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI.
“Our MAC schools share a fierce commitment to academic success, research excellence, and community service,” said Todd Diacon, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at Kent State University. “The MAC-ALDP will train the future leadership of our member institutions so that we can expand and continue this shared commitment to academic excellence, administrative effectiveness, and higher educational leadership.”
“Through the thoughtful and collaborative efforts of our provosts, other institutional leaders, and Conference staff this professional development opportunity has launched and should provide tremendous value to the participants and the membership,” said MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher. “This will be an excellent tool to enhance the growth and development of future leaders in higher education and is another way in which the MAC can provide value to its membership beyond intercollegiate athletics.”
Also selected by the Provost’s Office from Ohio University are Christopher Hayes, Professor and Director of the School of Music, and Sara R. Helfrich, Associate Professor of Teacher Education and Literacy Program Coordinator.
