Café Conversation presents Colin Gabler, Assistant Professor of Marketing at Ohio University, on “To Buy or Not to Buy, That is the Question,” at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27 in Baker Center Front Room.
According to Gabler, people make decisions all the time about what to buy and when to buy it. Gabler’s research investigates the risk associated with this decision, and he hopes to determine how businesses can use people’s buying practices to create better pricing strategies.
According to Gabler, some people are willing to wait to purchase a product and look for a greater discount; others are so afraid of losing the product that they impulsively buy it. “While people experience high levels of regret when they overpay for products, often this feeling is even deeper when they lose the chance to buy it altogether,” he says.
Cafe events are held on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. in the Front Room at Baker University Center. They are free and open to students, faculty and staff. Science Café is a venue for students to share their interests informally during a conversation exchange in a friendly setting.
Science Café and Café Conversations are sponsored by the Office of Vice President for Research and Creativity and the Ohio University Chapter of Sigma Xi.
The Science Café is hosted by Dr. Sarah Wyatt, Professor of Environmental & Plant Biology and Vice President of the Ohio University Chapter of Sigma Xi, and Roxanne Malé-Brune, Director of Grant Development and Projects in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Creativity.
