Over the years, the College of Arts & Sciences’ Distinguished Alumni Program recognized the outstanding careers and service achievements of college alumni. Unfortunately, this program afforded us opportunities to honor only a few alumni among the many who deserved recognition. This motivated us to re-imagine a program that would expand the core of accomplished alumni who we could celebrate for success in their careers, communities and service to the college. We aspired to create a new program that honors more people and encourages engagement among those who desire more involvement with college faculty and students.
In support of these goals, I am pleased to announce the creation of a new Notable Alumni Award. In addition to recognizing leadership, career achievement and community service, Notable Alumni Awards recognize individuals who make valuable contributions to the college and its departments. Notable Alumni Award recipients will be invited to attend an induction ceremony scheduled for October 2017. Past Distinguished Alumni Award recipients will serve as founding members.
As you peruse the articles in this edition of ENGAGE, please take special note of the call for nomination for our Notable Alumni Award. I urge you to submit a nomination (including self-nominations). The deadline for submission of nominations is June 25, 2017.
