Dr. Victoria Lee, Assistant Professor of History, contributed the entry on “Hakkō” (Fermentation) to the recently published Kagakushi jiten (Encyclopedia of the History of Chemistry), edited by Kagakushi gakkai (Japanese Society for the History of Chemistry).
The encyclopedia, published in April 2017, will be the major Japanese-language reference work on the history of chemistry. Lee’s research focuses on the role of Japan in 20th- and 21st-century science and technology.
