Soc 3270 Sociology of Education is offered online this summer
Class number 3434 runs June 26 – Aug. 12. No textbook is required. The course is taught by Dr. Elizabeth Lee, Assistant Professor of Sociology.
Students in sociology of education examine school as a social institution, thinking critically about what we expect schools and teachers to accomplish in educating students, and about the connection between schools and social inequality.
Are schools leveling the playing field, or are inequalities along racialized, class, and gender lines magnified?
The course utilizes sociology articles and news coverage of contemporary American education.
