Elisa Bergmeier, a sophomore mechanical engineering student, started taking German classes outside of her engineering major “because it will help me hopefully in a career with BMW.”
She starts a three-rotation internship with BMW in Greenville, SC, in the fall semester and hopes to travel to Germany as well.
“I will be doing optimization and analysis of all BMW engines there. I also have a chance to work in a German BMW plant for my third rotation with the company,” says Bergmeier.
“Being able to converse in German gives her an advantage in competing for this a prestigious internship with BMW,” says Annette Steigerwald, Senior Lecturer of German in the Modern Languages Department.
