In Her Words
Hello! I am Kyla Summer Miller! I am almost borderline obsessed with makeup, fashion, High School Musical (and other nostalgic movies and TV shows from my childhood) and rap music. I’m from Crete, Illinois which is 30 minutes from the wonderful city of Chicago.
If I could describe myself in three words they would probably be outgoing, passionate and extra. If you’ve met me you would get it. I also speak as fast as 100 miles a second so just let me know when I’m speaking too fast because I don’t realize it.
In high school I was a member of the theatre department and show choir, Captain of the Scholastic Bowl team, Editor in Chief of the school newspaper, “The U Times” and a mentor to freshman for two years.
I’m majoring in Political Science with hopes of teaching for two years, then eventually working on campaigns and the ultimate goal would be a U.S. senator and if I really want to dream extremely big I would like to eventually be Chief of Staff for a President.
I became interested in politics when during my sophomore year I became to realize injustices and oppression in the United States and throughout the world and I often found myself resenting the people in power. Then one day upon reading a quote by Lily Tomlin that said “I always wondered why somebody doesn’t do something about that. Then I realized I was somebody.” It’s such a simple thought but it completely changed my way of thinking and I decided that I was going to help fix or at least help all of the problems in America that bothers me.
