Welcome to the spring issue of engage! Spring came early to Athens this year with January and February temperatures well above normal. The mild winter was a blessing for all the Arts & Sciences alumni who traveled to Athens Feb. 2 to participate in our first-ever College of Arts & Sciences Career and Networking Week.
I was so pleased with the turnout of both alumni and students for the career panels and networking events. The extraordinary accomplishments of the alumni and their passion for Ohio University was, as usual, an impressive thing to see.
Our current students were overwhelmed by the willingness of the alumni to share experiences and help them make connections to career opportunities. The excitement in a packed Baker Center Ballroom was electric as students, faculty and alumni practiced the art of networking.
I am so grateful to everyone for making the events such a big success, but particularly grateful to our alums who generously shared their time with our students. Many, many thanks for your efforts!
In light of the success of this year’s event, we are already planning for another career week next year. Stay tuned for the forthcoming details.
And please, if you can offer any opportunities for career-building experiences such as internships for our students, contact Lisa Cohen, our Director of External Relations, with the details. She can be reached at 740-597-1311 or cohenl@ohio.edu.
We are eager to provide these types of experiences to current Bobcats.
Best wishes!
