Phi Alpha Delta, the pre-law fraternity at Ohio University, spent Veteran’s Day weekend traveling to South Bend, IN, and Chicago to tour prospective law schools.
About 30 students participated in the three-day trip, which included visits to Notre Dame Law School, John Marshall Law School, Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and Northwestern University School of Law.
Keeghan White, a junior studying Political Science Pre-Law, said his favorite was Northwestern University School of Law.
“They have a great academic program, and there’s an amazing view of Navy Pier from the library,” he said.
Nick Eaton, a junior studying Communications, echoed White’s thoughts about Northwestern University School of Law being his favorite.
“It was beautiful because there was old architecture but also a modern library, and the view of the lake was amazing…. Just seemed like somewhere I would fit in,” he said.
Phi Alpha Delta also took the weekend as an opportunity to network with OHIO Alumni. They talked to alumni who are now practicing attorneys in Chicago. It was a great opportunity for students to get advice about law school and talk to attorneys.
“We are so excited to have the opportunity to pass this valuable information on to other Ohio U students interested in law school so they can begin to decide if Chicago may be a good fit for them!” said Paige Shoemaker, president of Phi Alpha Delta and a senior studying Political Science and Sociology-Criminology with a Certificate in Law, Justice & Culture.
The trip was made possible through funding by the Student Activities Commission, a subdivision of the Ohio University Student Senate.
There will be an open chapter hosted by Phi Alpha Delta to discuss the recent trip. The open Chapter will be Tuesday, Jan 17, at 7 p.m. in Schoonover 450. Any student from any discipline with an interest in law is welcome to attend to learn more about law programs in Chicago.
