Confused about College of Arts & Sciences college-level requirements? We’re here to help!
First, let me say that every college in the university has different college-level requirements. So your friends in Business or Communications won’t have the same requirements as you. If you’re an Arts and Sciences student, you must complete 60 hours of Arts and Sciences coursework at the 2000 level and above.
With the 60 hours being one of the most overlooked and misinterpreted requirements, let me try to explain. For this requirement:
- You can utilize any course offered through the College of Arts & Sciences at the 2000/3000/4000 level.
- You can utilize any 2000/3000/4000 level courses that are ALSO used for your Major, Foreign Language, or Liberal Arts Distribution.
- You can utilize 2000/3000/4000 level courses completed for any minor that is offered through the College of Arts & Sciences.
- You can find which college a specific course is offered through on the Course Offerings Page. The college will be listed when you expand the details for a course.
- Often times you can find courses that will “Double Dip” for university and college-level requirements, knocking two to three requirements out with one course. Visit us in Wilson Hall (College Green) if you need a “Double Dip” handout.
Once you register for a course(s), update your DARS to see what area requirements it is fulfilling. As always, if you have any questions, please contact us in Wilson Hall.
