Kelly Sundberg, a doctoral student in the Creative Writing program at Ohio University, worked on an upcoming memoir on her trip to Belgium, where she participated in an artist’s residency.
She was awarded a competitive scholarship from Ohio University’s English Department, one of eight to students who are conducting research for their respective dissertations and projects.
Abstract: I received a writer’s fellowship from Miel Books to attend an artists’ residency at Dickinson House in rural Belgium. While there, I’ll be working on my forthcoming memoir about surviving and escaping domestic violence (which will be released by HarperCollins Publishers in 2017 and is the creative component of my dissertation). My Dickinson House fellowship covers the costs of staying at the residency, but my English Department scholarship will cover the associated travel expenses.
