The Athens News covered a debate between Dr. Richard Vedder, Distinguished Professor of Economics Emeritus at Ohio University and Director of the Center for College Affordability and Productivity, and Political Science alum David Wilhelm ’77.
The story was headlined “It’s Clinton (Wilhelm) vs. Trump (Vedder); Designated stand-ins for presidential candidates square off, good-naturedly, at OU event.”
During a mock presidential forum at Ohio University last Wednesday, the two participants presented sharply contrasting visions of where America stands now, and where it’s headed if Donald Trump gets elected on the one hand, or Hillary Clinton on the other.
Representing the pro-Trump side was Richard Vedder, distinguished professor emeritus of economics at OU. In favor of Clinton was David Wilhelm, an Athens native who served as campaign manager for Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign and later as chair of the Democratic National Committee. The event took place in OU’s Baker Center Theater.
