Next week marks the start of academic advising for the spring semester. And while you may mosey in to your advisor’s office expecting them to hand you the key to all of life’s answers, or at least life at OU, they can’t effectively help you if you don’t have some sort of plan in mind. So follow these tips and impress your advisor’s socks off.
· Be proactive and contact your advisor to set up an appointment.
· Look at your DARS! If we see that you haven’t refreshed it for several months, we know that you need to step up your game.
· Make a list of questions that would be helpful to have answered.
· Take a look at spring semester courses on the Course Offerings Page.
· Come up with a plan for the summer. Do you plan on taking courses, working, volunteering or interning? All of these are valuable experiences.
· Prepare or ask for help with your four year plan.
· Also, if you still need help after meeting with your primary advisor, feel free to stop into Wilson Hall during walk in hours every Wednesday from 9-11 and 1-4, and Thursdays from 1-4.
