One thing that most everyone fears, whether they admit it or not, is job interviews. Luckily, the Career and Leadership Development Center offers mock interviews for any Ohio University student.
The center also offers career coaching, development courses, and resume help.
The wonderful staff at the CLDC are great at providing students with the opportunity to experience a real interview. In a professional setting, students get to practice an interview as if it were for a actual job.
These interviews usually last about 10 to 20 minutes. This allows the interviewer ample time to pose multiple questions. Questions asked involve goals, milestones, skills, and ice breakers.
The CLDC tailors each interview personally to suit a possible job that someone may apply for after graduation.
This is all done in a very serious way so as to seem as authentic as possible. It is important to be well-prepared for the interview and take as much away from it as possible.
Some things to have prepared:
- Resume (if underclassman, high school experience is fine)
- Formal Attire
- Questions for the interviewer
- Knowledge of company or industry of job
After the interview is completed, time is taken to review. The interviewer goes over the strengths and weaknesses shown in the interview. This reflection time is relaxed and extremely helpful. The staff at the CLDC enjoy giving guidance and helping every Bobcat to succeed!
