he Psychology Colloquium series presents Dr. Pat Garriott on “Bridging the Gap: Institutionalizing Success For First-Generation College Students” on Friday, Sept. 16, at 11:50 a.m. in Porter 102.
Garriott is Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology in the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver. “Dr. Garriott’s research lab focuses on the educational and career development of students who have been historically underrepresented in higher education and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers; multicultural vocational psychology; first-generation college students; race, social class; and diversity training. His research has been published in outlets such as Journal of Counseling Psychology, Journal of Career Assessment, and Journal of Diversity in Higher Education. Dr. Garriott serves on the Editorial Boards of The Counseling Psychologist, Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, and Journal of Career Development and in 2016 was appointed to the American Psychological Association Committee on Socioeconomic Status,” according to his website.
The colloquium is hosted by Dr. Julie Suhr.
