The Office of Global Opportunities is hosting an informational luncheon, co-hosted by the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships and the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards, for students interested in securing funding for studying abroad.
The luncheon is Wednesday, Sept. 21, from noon to 1 p.m. in Baker Center 231.
The luncheon consists of pizza and refreshments and is free to attend. No RSVP is required.
Information provided includes how financial aid applies to global experiences, scholarship opportunities, and tips from students who have studied abroad.
Applications for scholarships from the Office of Global Opportunities are due Oct. 3.
More information of their scholarships can be found on the Office of Global Opportunities funding page.
Scholarships are not strictly merit-based, meaning that students do not need a high GPA to be awarded scholarships. A variety of scholarships exist for students of all backgrounds, for specific programs, and for different purposes. Not all of them require essays too, so applying is easy and certainly worth it!
Every scholarship is offered through one OHIO office or another, and each has a representative students can talk to. All the information is available on the Office of Global Opportunities funding page.
The Office of Global Opportunities encourages students to visit if they have any questions. Walk-in hours are Monday through Friday, 1-4 p.m., in the Walter International Education Center.
Studying abroad is a wonderful experience of which many graduates regret not taking part. The main reason being that funds are scarce.
Students should still apply if interested—and attend the luncheon to help make a competitive application for funding. Just remember that applications for most programs and scholarships are due Oct. 3 for programs between the end of fall semester and spring semester.
