Doctoral students Shehzad Ahmed and Dan Bossaller are taking the initiative to lead an innovative reading seminar this fall in the Set Theory and Algebra Seminar.
Roughly speaking, Ahmed will present set theoretic topics that have significant applications in algebra on Tuesdays, and Bossaller will present the corresponding counterpart algebra problems and results on Thursdays. The seminars start on Aug. 30.
The seminar meets 4:35-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in Morton 115.
Everyone who is interested is welcome to attend. “Of course, the seminar will be most beneficial if you attend consistently but I think Shehzad and Dan have even envisioned the possibility that some people might attend only on Tuesdays or on Thursdays depending on their particular emphasis within the Set Theory/Algebra divide,” says Dr. Sergio Lopez-Permouth, Professor of Mathematics. “Shehzad has put some of his thoughts on the seminar in his blog.”
