Dr. Nicole Kaufman, Assistant Professor of Sociology, joined young faculty from universities around the world this summer in a week-long summer seminar on the philosophy of social science at Yale.
A criminologist, Kaufman is affiliated with Ohio University’s Center for Law, Justice & Culture.
The Critical Realism Network seminar was led by Phil Gorski (Yale Sociology), George Steinmetz (University of Michigan Sociology), Margarita Mooney (Princeton Theological Seminary), and Tim Rutzou (Yale Sociology).
“The seminar topic was Critical Realism,” Kaufman said. “The purpose was to introduce faculty members to Critical Realism and ways it could improve the way we approach theory and methods in our research.”
