A new online class helps schoolteachers in grades 5-12 learn how to integrate science fair projects with learning the scientific method in the classroom.
The instructor is Dr. Elizabeth Gierlowski-Kordesch, who is also director of the Ohio District 12 Science and Engineering Fair (associated with the Ohio Academy of Science). She has vast experience involving science fair projects, from directing fairs, judging a multitude of projects over several decades, and winning awards as a student science fair presenter.

Description: Teachers to learn how to integrate science fair projects with learning the scientific method in the classroom. Students learn how to create ideas for science fair projects for 5-12 students and evaluate their scientific quality. Students learn how to construct a science fair project, including proper experimentation protocol, writing abstracts and reports, and construction of a display for the presentation of research. All procedures for setting up a school science fair as well as registration for the District and State Science Days are covered. Final class project entail the construction and presentation of a science fair project involving experimentation.
