When Ohio University alum Kathryn Nutter-Pridgen ’05, ’08M left Athens in 2008 and headed to Florida, she had an M.A. in Sociology, a B.A. in Psychology and a Certificate in Women’s Studies.
In August 2015, she added a few lines to her repertoire. She earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Florida—and gave birth to her daughter the same month.
“I am looking for an assistant professor position (somewhere warm) and teaching as an adjunct at the University of Florida and Santa Fe College in the meantime,” she says. “My favorite part of teaching is the connections I get to make with students. I have taught a number of different courses including Intro, Problems, and Family and advanced courses in Sexualities, Gender, and Inequalities (Race/Class/Gender).”
Nutter-Pridgen’s Ph.D. is in Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies.
“My dissertation studied bisexual activism and analyzed the members’ use of discourses and frames, to what extent they utilized online tools, and examined the larger social worlds that the movement inhabited. My research interests include: sexuality, social movements, gender, and qualitative methodologies,” she says.
