Psychology Undergrad Gets Kopchick Award to Study Neurodegenerative Diseases

Undergraduate student Kimberly Kraus ’16, a Psychology major, received one of the 2015 John J. Kopchick Awards for research at Ohio University.

The John J. Kopchick Molecular and Cellular Biology/Translational Biomedical Sciences Undergraduate Student Support Fund provides up to $1,500 for undergraduate students working with MCB/TBS faculty and conducting translational medical research and scholarly activities.

Kraus’ project is ““Optimization and utilization of hybrid culture between rat and fly primary neurons: a novel model for studying neurodegenerative diseases,” and her faculty mentor is Dr. Robert Colvin.
