Physics Open House | Fun with Liquid Nitrogen and More, Nov. 7

Fun with liquid nitrogen? Beating back gravity? Sharks with lasers? It’s all there to explore at the Ohio University Department of Physics and Astronomy Open House on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Clippinger Laboratories on the Athens campus.

“There are a lot of cool and unexpected things in nature. In putting together the shows, hallway activities and tours, we’re always looking for the fun and the unexpected, and we even sneak in a little physics!” says Dr. Mark Lucas, Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy.

“With the hovercraft, kids learn that high pressure air spread out over a large area will let you float on a cushion of air, which makes for a fun ride! With the water rocket, as the water rocket pushes the water out the bottom, the water pushes the rocket up … and up … and up!”
