Sustainability Studies theme encourages students and faculty to attend an international delegation of national park directors and NGO experts from Kosovo and Montenegro on Friday, Nov. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Friends of the Library Room, Alden Library third floor.
The guests will share their experiences with:
- Fostering sustainability in economically challenged but biologically rich areas
- Developing transboundary ecotourism
- Fighting illegal logging
- Tracking the elusive Balkans Lynx
- Protecting traditional livelihoods
- Utilizing environmental cooperation to rebuild trust after civil war
This 12-person delegation is visiting Athens as one stop on a two-week U.S. study tour. They are visiting Ohio University as part of an ongoing partnership with the Voinovich School, the Office of Global Opportunities, and its partner International Peace Park Expeditions. Collaborating with IPPE, Ohio University offers a three-week study abroad program on Environmental Peacebuilding and Sustainability in the Balkans, where students take a series of hands-on learning courses in the Environmental Studies program.
