Science Café  presents  Dr. Sarah Wyatt, Professor of Environmental and Plant Biology, on “Anatomy of a Spaceflight” on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 5 p.m.,  in the Baker Center Front Room.

Science Cafe logoIn January, after months of preparation, Wyatt and her students sent seedlings to the International Space Station in order to study the effects of gravity on plant growth.

“It takes a lot of planning,” Wyatt said about the project, noting that the crew “made sure the experiment worked 16 months before launch.” At the Science Café, she will discuss the steps to a spaceflight, from landing a NASA research grant to the actual launch to space and post-flight analysis.

Watch on A&S TV.

Café events are free and open to students, faculty and staff. Café Conversations and Science Cafés are both venues for students to share their interests informally during a conversation exchange in a friendly setting.
