The Physics & Astronomy Colloquium Series presents Elizabeth Gierlowski-Kordesch of Ohio University on “Modern and Jurassic Landscapes in Namibia” on Friday, Oct. 23, at 4:10 p.m. in Walter 245.
Abstract: A National Geographic Society grant to study sedimentary rock deposited originally as river sediment in between basalt flows from a Jurassic landscape in central Namibia in southern Africa (ancient landscape) has also lead to a look at a modern landscape (with wild animals) in a playa lake in Etosha National Park in northern Namibia. This illustrates fun travel and great research by geologists from Ohio University.
