The Astrophysical Institute (ApI) presents Florian Beutler of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory presenting “Cosmology with the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS)” on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at at 4:10 p.m. in Edwards Accelerator Lab, Roger W. Finlay Conference Room.
Abstract: Dr. Florian Beutler will present results from SDSS-III BOSS-DR11/DR 12 analysis. In this talk, he will focus on the analysis of the power spectrum multipoles, which allows to constrain the expansion of the Universe through Baryon Acoustic Oscillations as well as to measure the growth of structure through redshift-space distortions. Such a measurement can be used to test General Relativity, constrain dark energy and measure the sum of the neutrino masses.
