This week faculty and students from OHIO and the University of Leipzig, Germany have been meeting to discuss the latest advances in bioanalytic techniques and their application to drug discovery.
The week-long series of lectures and discussions is part of the Chemistry & Biochemistry at the Materials Interface (CBMI) research exchange program established 12 years ago between Ohio University’s Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry and Leipzig’s Department of Chemistry & Mineralogy.
The primary goal of the research exchange program is to enhance the education of students from both universities through interdisciplinary and international collaborative research experiences. In addition, students and faculty gain experience in global relations and professional development through the program’s activities.
This week marked the third annual OHIO – Leipzig Bioanalytics Lecture Series.
The visiting faculty from Leipzig are Dr. Ralf Hoffmann (co-director of the OHIO-Leipzig CBMI program) and Dr. Daniela Volke.
Dr. Jennifer Hines, Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry, is the OHIO co-director of the Chemistry & Biochemistry at the Materials Interface program.
In addition, three exchange students from Leipzig are studying and doing research with faculty in the OHIO department this fall semester.
