On April 25, a 7.9 Richter scale earthquake devastated Nepal, even affecting neighboring countries India, Pakistan, Bhutan, China and Bangladesh. UNICEF estimates that more than 1 million children require urgent humanitarian assistance. Numerous aftershocks created more panic and havoc among the people in Nepal, who are in need of emergency support, with estimates of more than 8,000 deaths.
Many countries, organizations and individuals are coming forward with humanitarian aid.
The Ohio University UNICEF chapter is partnering with the Nepali community in Athens to support the relief efforts. Today we are reaching out to the generosity of all Ohio University students and the Athens community.
