The Piqua Daily reports that one of the Miami East High School students awarded scholarships in honor of former a church organist “continues to pass on her her gift of music to local students in the community.” Noah Tucker plans to study Psychology at Ohio University, the paper says.
The Lostcreek United Church of Christ, where Dorothy served as its organist for decades, will be commemorating the scholarship’s anniversary with special music by The Thiem Snipps group from Fort Recovery at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the church located on 7007 E. Troy-Urbana Road, Casstown. The celebration will also include the 2015 Dorothy Kirk Scholarship recipients. Brendan Speck, who will receive $1,000 scholarship, plans to attend Bowling Green University to major in music education. Noah Tucker, who will receive a $500 scholarship, plans to attend Ohio University and major in psychology. Cody Reid, who will receive a $500 scholarship, plans to attend Bowling Green University and major in Forensic Chemistry. All three are graduates of Miami East High School.
