The Mathematical Biology Seminar series presents Dr. Winfried Just on “The Geometry of Social Distance” on Wednesday, April 8, at 5:15 p.m. in 326 Morton Hall.
Just is Professor of Mathematics at Ohio University.
Abstract: Any given contact network implicitly defines a notion of social distance. In this talk we will explore some structural properties of the resulting geometries, with emphasis on clustering coefficients and the small-world property. Implications for the transmission of infectious diseases and some related research problems will also be discussed.
