Ohio University alum Dr. Molly Yanity discusses “Challenging Masculinity in Sports and Keeping your Job While Doing it! A Journalist’s Perspective” in the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Conference Room (31 S Court St room #105) on Friday, April 3, from noon to 1 p.m.
Yanity, Assistant Professor of Journalism at Quinnipiac University, earned an M.S. and a Ph.d. from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University and is a former Allushuski Fellow.
She returned to Ohio University for her doctorate after 12 years of sports reporting for multiple news outlets, including the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. She has voted in the AP Top 25 poll and is still an avid sports fan. In her current work, she explores the relationship between power and privilege on the field and off.
The Allushuski Fellowship is dedicated to supporting the mentorship link between graduate and undergraduate students at Ohio University. Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Brown Bags are one means by which Allushuski Fellows engage with the academic community and enrich scholarship on campus.
