A resident of Canal Winchester, OH, and 2012 graduate of Pickerington Central High School, Cosby was a devoted member of Anointed Ministries and Divine Covering, two Christian student organizations at Ohio University. She worked at Graeter’s Ice Cream near her home during breaks from school.

Patton College academic adviser Kelly Davidson said she became friends with Cosby and her parents over the past few years.

“Jasmine was such a sweetheart and her parents are nice people also. She was part of a great family,” Davidson said. “I’ll always remember her for being a nice young lady who was a model student in and out of the classroom. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.”

One of Cosby’s professors commented on her special qualities as a student.

“Jasmine was a bright, thoughtful, outstanding young woman,” said Dr. Thomas Vander Ven, Professor of Sociology. “It was a pleasure to have her in my class.”

Dean of Students Jenny Hall-Jones expressed her condolences to the Cosby family on behalf of her office.

“We are deeply saddened by this sudden loss of such a strong leader on our campus,” Hall-Jones said. “On behalf of Ohio University, we express our condolences to Jasmine’s family and friends.”
