Ohio University alum Sherrie Bossart ’79 has been promoted as an associate publisher of The Athens NEWS, APG Media of Ohio announced.
Bosart earned a degree in Creative Writing from the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University. Fellow OHIO alum Terry Smith also was named an associate editor.
Sherrie Bossart, who will serve as associate publisher/ad director, has managed two roles for APG Media of Ohio. Since 2013, Bossart has been the director of classified advertising and new business development. Bossart had responsibility for national accounts, contract negotiations, new streams of revenue, as well as a team of inside account executives and support staff that served 10 APG Of Ohio publications.
Bossart came to The Athens Messenger in 1979 as an advertising account executive. She has had a variety of advertising management positions, including Advertising Manager of The Athens News in the early ’80s and Advertising Manager of The Athens Messenger for almost 20 years.
Bossart is an Ohio University graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences and has been married to Joe Bossart for 31 years. Joe is an educator at The Hocking Valley Community Residential Facility in Nelsonville, Ohio. They reside in The Plains, where she is a member of The Plains Methodist Church.
Bossart will assume operational and advertising management oversight of The NEWS while Smith will be responsible for both print and online content following the resignation of former publisher Jane Means.
