The Center for International Studies is now soliciting applications for the following student awards that are open to all Ohio University students. The Center director, Professor Steve Howard, stated that he encourages the Ohio University students who are working on international studies to get involved with the center initiatives and benefit from the center sources. The awards constitute a step toward that direction, showing the students that the Center for International Studies remains a hub for intellectual exchange in all aspects of global affairs.
CIS Best Essay Award: Open to Ohio University undergraduate and graduate students. Students should submit a 7-15 page essay they wrote for a OHIO course or seminar, and the essay should have an international studies dimension. Submissions should be sent to Dr. Nukhet Sandal, Assistant Professor of Political Sciences and Director of War & Peace Studies, at sandal@ohio.edu by April 15. The awardee will receive $500.
CIS Undergraduate Research Award: Open to all OHIO students who need resources to conduct research related to international studies. The award is $500, and it can be spent toward books, travel expenses and computer software. Students should submit a 1,000-word proposal, clearly defining their research, how the research is related to international studies, and how the award will help them. The awardee will present her or his research in Fall 2015; therefore, the applicants should be planning to be on campus in Fall 2015. Submissions should be sent to Dr. Nukhet Sandal at sandal@ohio.edu by April 15.
