Dr. Peter Harrington, Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry, was distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences annual meeting Feb. 16-21 in Orlando, FL.
Harrington, the first person to receive this accolade from Ohio University, joins 25 other fellows in Ohio, and is 1 of 5 in the Criminalistics section for the state of Ohio.
The American Academy of Forensic Sciences is a multi-disciplinary professional organization that provides leadership to advance science and its application to the legal system. The objectives of the Academy are to promote professionalism, integrity, competency, education, foster research, improve practice, and encourage collaboration in the forensic sciences. The Academy comprises other sections that include Digital, Jurisprudence, Engineering, Pathology, Odontology, Toxicology, and Psychology topics. The Academy also accredits Ohio University’s Forensic Chemistry program.
At the annual meeting, Harrington also moderated a panel on “The Trasks and Hamiltons Consider More Criminologistics Topics.”
