The African American Studies Department is partnering with the Black Graduate Student Association on a series of coffee cup stickers in the Baker Center Front Room.
The second one celebrates Black History Month with “OUr Black History Fun Facts:
- 1833: African-American James Roye begins attending Ohio University. Roye is elected president of Liberia in 1870 and holds the distinction of being the only Ohioan to serve as president of a foreign country.
- 1927: Construction begins on the Alumni Memorial Auditorium. It would later be renamed Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium to honor the first African-American male and female graduates of Ohio University.
