Dr. Jennifer Fredette, Assistant Professor of Political Science, was a panelist on Al Jazeera America’s Inside Story with Ray Suarez on Jan. 8.
The panelists discussed the Paris newspaper shooting that sparked global calls for solidarity.
“A shooting that killed 12 people at the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo today is widely being viewed as an attack on press freedom. For decades, Charlie Hebdo’s breezy, take-no-prisoners approach has earned the paper devotees, and enemies,” reads the segment’s promo. “It has been called racist, sued and firebombed, but today the price exacted by murderers was too much for the world to ignore.”
Fredette is the author of “Constructing Muslims in France,” which was published in 2014. Fredette’s book is available for free online thanks to a creative commons license and some daring publishing experimentation by Temple University Press and Knowledge Unlatched.
