Ohio University alum Joshua Cassidy ’01 is a Multimedia Producer for KQED Science and and the Lead Producer for the Deep Look series.
His latest production, “The Fantastic Fur of Sea Otters,” shows why California sea otters frolicking in the chilly Pacific need the densest fur of any mammal on Earth—up to a million hairs per inch.
After earning a B.S. in Wildlife Biology from Ohio University, Casssidy participated in marine mammal research for NOAA, USGS, and the Intersea Foundation. He also served as the president of the Pacific Cetacean Group, a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching K-6 students about whales. He studied science and natural history filmmaking at San Francisco State University and Montana State University.
