Hear from your advisor Sara Berens
Hello A&S students!
This week’s advising tip is about timing for final exams. Some students assume that pressure leads them to greatness and cramming is the only way to study. However, I’m sure you’ve heard the exact opposite from your instructors. The recommended time frame to begin studying for exams is actually 2-3 weeks in advance, which means that you would want to start now. The best thing to do is sit down with your syllabi and plot out study times for each course up until your exam time on finals week. Consider if the exam is comprehensive and will span the entire semester or if it will only cover the second half of the semester. Then, break up the material you need to cover in manageable segments so you are only covering one segment a day or every other day. This way you do not feel overwhelmed. Having a plan in place that allows you enough time to prepare will leave you feeling much less stressed out!!
