Right before Halloween, on Oct. 30, OPIE faculty engaged their students in a real trick-or-treating experience in the Athens East Side Neighborhood. Each year, the area draws many kids and their parents from all around Athens to its well-decorated and friendly place. It also provides a unique opportunity for Athens residents to safely walk around in Halloween costumes and collect “trick or treat” candy, generously provided by East Siders. In spite of the cold weather, it turned out to be a busy and fun Thursday for the OPIE students who had a chance to give out candy to kids and trick or treat themselves.

The next day, on Oct. 31, OPIE continued immersing the group of exchange students from Japan into Halloween activities in East Elementary School. The Japanese Exchange students got to carve pumpkins with East Elementary students, and they enjoyed the special treats. To help the international students experience a Halloween mood, OPIE faculty eagerly dressed up for the occasion as well!
